Network Administrator

A Network Administrator at PCIT takes proactive steps to manage and optimize each customers IT infrastructure. Typically one or more days per month for each client are scheduled in advance and work is completed onsite at the clients location. This role is key in delivering a stabilized technology environment and knowing the customers business well. The right candidate will have a combination of technical skills, business knowledge and communication capabilities that will assist customers and staff in their goals.

The right candidate should be comfortable working in a professional organization that is client focused. Work will include some overnight travel.

Technical Capabilities

  • Proven sound risk management. Appreciation of the business impact of IT management and work habits that contribute to a ‘zero down time’ environment.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Extensive technical knowledge and support experience with network and PC operating systems, including Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows Server 2012, and Microsoft Exchange. iOS and Android experience an asset.
  • Administration, hardening, and optimization experience with Windows Server 2008 and 2012R2 platforms.
  • Some experience with virtualization technologies and or cloud application administration an asset.
  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including IP, IPSec VPN’s, and traffic shaping.
  • Unified Communication experience an asset.
  • Track Record of delivering above average technical excellence and customer satisfaction is preferred above technical excellence alone.

Formal Education, Certification or Experience

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 4+ years equivalent Canadian based work experience.
  • Certifications in Microsoft Infrastructure preferred.
  • Certifications from Vendors such as VM Ware, Cisco an asset.
  • Project Management DevOps certification an asset.
